2003-2007 Ken has led many study broad photojournalism classes to Dakar, Senegal, West African many times for Suffolk University and the School for International training in Discover the Mysteries of Senegal class and Lens on Senegal programs. Students interested in joining future classes to this fascinating western most African country should contact Prof. Martin.
2008 Photojournalism in Tuscania, Italy Suffolk University study abroad class based at the Lorenzo de’Medici Institute campus in Tuscania, an hour north of Rome near the west coast of Italy in the ancient Etruscan hilltown area. Students lived in the medieval town and had the opportunity of seeing this region with relatively few tourists about. Visits to Florence and Rome were included.
2009
Ken documented the visit of the Faye Family
of Dakar Senegal, West Africa, keepers of the Gewel (Griot) traditions
of Sabar dancing, drumming, and story
telling, to the Boston Area.
2010
Return to Tuscania
For three weeks in May & June students are
invited to study photojournalism once again in Italy with an expanded
itinerary including the Roman Catacombs, Hadrian’s Tivoli, and the old
Roman port of Ostia added to the previous sites in Tarquina, Florence
and Rome.
